FAQs

As we set out into the design phase, we have been asking ourselves many questions about how to build this adjudicative body in a way that is authentic and grounded in Métis culture.

While visiting 25 locals across the province we heard from many people who shared our concerns and had questions for our consideration. The table below outlines the questions we’re holding. Over time, the research we’ve found that helps to inform our decision making will be added as we shape the responses to these questions - and others.

  • Who can use this Court?
  • Who appoints the decision makers?
  • Who pays for the Court?
  • What can this Court make decisions on?
  • Do I have to hire a lawyer?
  • Will this tribunal deal with family or criminal issues?
  • Can this tribunal review actions of an elected Metis official of the MNS?
  • Can this tribunal review the decisions of the chief electoral officer?
  • Can this tribunal review the decisions of the of the registry?
  • When can I go to another court?

In this section we want to ask for your feedback.

We also want to hear your questions so this list can grow!
